Citizens and Corporations - Govmt. Taking Charge If corporations are ever to be prevented from exploiting ordinary people on a massive scale, governments are going to have to change company law and bring in and enforce proper regulation. Many matters that now come under the civil law will have to be made criminal offences. Such laws will have to be drafted in such a way that directors and/or CEOs will be assumed to be the guilty parties unless they can show they have issued directives to counter unacceptable behaviour. British governments will not even attempt to do this until they become accountable to Parliament. Even then they will use the excuse that globalisation has tied their hands. It is true that international co-operation is required to curb the multi nationals, but Britain is not trying very hard to get it.
